What is it?
Dry needling is an effective way to release muscle tension, improve range of motion, reduce pain, and increase blood flow to injured tissues. This is accomplished through the use of a fine filament needle inserted into specific muscle and fascial points.
How is it different from Acupuncture?
Although the same types of needles are used in both therapies, dry needling is based off of western orthopedic and neuromuscular diagnosis. The focus is to help speed up healing for muscle strains, ligament sprains, fascial restrictions, etc.
Traditional acupuncture utilizes tongue and pulse readings to determine a diagnosis and focuses needle placement to help balance yin and yang, and clear up meridians.
